THE PRECIOUS METALS’ DEMAND DECREASED AT BORSA ISTANBUL

Last week, the agenda was the second wave concern in corona virus and uncertain stimulus package in the USA. Another important development was that the first approved vaccine was administered in the UK. The increasing number of cases and weekend bans also affected the Borsa Istanbul.

Gold was very volatile at Borsa Istanbul, mostly under selling pressure. Gold reached its highest level at 1867,50 usd/oz on Tuesday and the closing was near the lowest gold price at 1815 usd/oz level. Compared to last week, there was a very narrow price band with 57,5 usd/oz level. Gold lost 0,5% value , despite gaining value  last week. Gold transaction volume was 13 MT at Borsa Istanbul. After Borsa session closed, gold’s demand increased so the gold price rose to the level of 1839,60 usd/oz at international markets.

Silver had a quiet week at Borsa Istanbul. Silver recorded its highest level at 24,40 usd/oz and completed the week at 23,90 usd/oz which was same  the lowest price. That means silver lost 0,4% value. Silver traded volume was too little as almost 4 MT at Borsa Istanbul.
